✓ You spend most of your day in your head.
✓ You know movement would help, but you can't make yourself do it.
✓ You feel trapped by stress, responsibilities, grief, or old emotional wounds.
✓ You distract yourself with food, social media, shopping, work, fantasy, or relationships.
✓ You feel disconnected from your body.
✓ You miss feeling truly alive.
If so, you're not broken.
You may simply have lost your sense of safety within your own body.
Most people believe they don't move because they're lazy, undisciplined, or unmotivated.
But what if the problem isn't a lack of willpower?
What if movement itself no longer feels safe, natural, or enjoyable?
The Rita Lazar Method™ was developed around a simple idea:
When music creates a feeling of safety, movement often follows naturally.
The Rita Lazar Method™ is a music-guided free-dance practice designed to help people gently reconnect with movement.
There are no steps to memorize.
No choreography.
No fitness requirements.
No pressure to perform.
Just music, movement, curiosity, and permission.
The goal isn't to become a dancer.
The goal is to rediscover the part of yourself that wants to move.
For many years I became fascinated by a simple question:
Why do some people love to move while others feel disconnected from their bodies?
As I explored music, dance, trauma, shame, self-consciousness, and emotional wellbeing, I began developing what would eventually become the Rita Lazar Method™.
Today, my mission is simple:
To help people rediscover joy through movement.
Movement affects far more than physical fitness.
Research has linked dancing to improvements in mood, social connection, cognitive function, and overall wellbeing.
One long-term study found that among a variety of physical and cognitive activities, dancing was associated with the greatest reduction in dementia risk.
